BILAS BRINGS ART OF WATERSPORTS TO PRESITGIOUS TOKYO GINZA DISTRICT
Photographer, journalist and barefoot water ski champion Zenon Bilas has elevated the boating lifestyle to an art form, with the placement of several of his watersports photos in Tokyo's Nini Gallery. Owned by well-regarded art collector Mr. Niiyama, the Nini is located in the prestigious Ginza district, regarded as the center of Japanese art and high fashion. Featuring water skiers in action, Bilas' photographs go beyond traditional boating lifestyle images. His seductive themes and strong composition show distinctive silhouettes of top slalom skiers in both day and night competition action.
Bilas says, “When I’m on assignment, I look for ways to reach the wide market, rather than to appeal only to boating and water ski enthusiasts. I want to bring a more mainstream audience to our sport. Display of my images in the Ginza district Nini Gallery surely shows I have accomplished the goal. Japanese artists and collectors have intense interest and place great store in hard hitting presentation, so this is particularly satisfying and validating for me."
No stranger to the international boating market, Bilas has conducted water ski coaching clinics and performed barefoot water ski demonstrations and shows all over the world. Media interviews and television appearances in locations such as China and Japan enable him to broadly share his passion for watersports with local cultures.
Bilas’ multi prong thrust in the world market is well illustrated by his editorial work—boating features, boat tests, and water ski coaching pieces have been published in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and UK.
From his base in Lake Worth, Florida, Zenon Bilas travels the world on assignment. For further information, contact at zenbilas@bellsouth.net or 561.433.4554.
